Hi, I'm Daniella!

Welcome to Brave Dyella! You may be wondering what my blog name means. While my name is Daniella, I changed my social media name to Dyella 10 years ago and it stuck!

I was born in the Tri-State area, raised in South Florida, and I now live in the North East with my sweet little family.

I started this blog in 2015 as a way to chronicle my adventures while traveling and to share my best traveling tips.

Some may find it hard to believe, but I wasn't always a traveler. In fact, my sophomore year of college my girlfriends and I took a trip to Florida and I panicked the entire plane ride. Little did I know, in the very near future I would spend countless hours on very turbulent flights and like it. Oh, how times change.

My love for travel changed in the fall of 2009. The semester I studied abroad in Florence, Italy. Going to Italy had been a dream of mine since 2002. This, of course, is when the movie When in Rome came out with the Olson Twins. A year later, The Lizzie McGuire Movie came out and every teenage girls travel expectations were changed forever. Just kidding, but seriously ... that movie was every teenage girl's dream. Am I right?

Unlike When in Rome and The Lizzie McGuire movie though, my experience wasn't magical. Actually, studying abroad for me was hard. Like, really. really. really hard.

Studying abroad had been my dream since I first heard about it my junior year of high school. I was in the most beautiful country on earth, with the best food on earth, surrounded by great people ... so why did I feel so homesick? I learned more about myself in those three months then I had in my 20 years before.

I learned that growth doesn't come from comfort zones and that I needed this experience to allow myself the opportunity to open new doors. These opportunities have led me to today. A traveler, welcoming the unknown, even when it means spending time away from home. For this reason, I will forever encourage those that have the opportunity to study abroad. You may never get an opportunity to live abroad again!

Italy will forever hold the most special place in my heart.

Outside of travel, I am a lover of all things. Some of my favorite places are home, Italy (of course), Disney World, and the Pacific Northwest. California also makes my heart really happy. I'm desperately trying to get my fiancé to pick up and relocate to one of my favorite places. Probably not happening, but I will keep trying!

When I'm not traveling I'm playing with my dog, enjoying the outdoors, or reading a good blog. I love coffee (way too much), candles, self-help podcasts, and books. Oh, and wine. I really love red wine. I'm obsessed with skincare and am guaranteed to always have lotion, a facial spray of some sort, and chapstick on me.

On that note, I will stop here because it's time I pack for my next trip! I hope to see you along on my adventures.
